RS Minigame Spotlight Guide |
MINIGAME SPOTLIGHT GUIDE With this guide, I plan to give a general overview of Runescape's Minigame Spotlight, how to participate in it, and the benefits involved in it. Though I will list the minigames involved in the Spotlight, I will not go in depth into any of them, and if you want to learn about those in depth, I'd highly recommend looking at my guides (WIP) for the individual minigames involved in the spotlight to find out more about them. DESCRIPTION: On 18 May 2015, Jagex released the Minigame Spotlight, mainly to incentivize players to play minigames by offering better rewards, as well as making it easier to obtain the existing rewards. The Minigame Spotlight affects the following minigames: Pest Control Soul Wars Fist of Guthix Barbarian Assault Conquest Fishing Trawler Great Orb Project Flash Powder Factory Castle Wars Stealing Creation Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza Heist Mobilising Armies Trouble Brewing While playing any of these minigames at any point in time, you now earn a new minigame-exclusive currency called Thaler at a rate of 1 Thaler for every 5 minutes of gameplay. Thaler can be spent at the new Minigame Spotlight Store, which contains most of the rewards from the affected minigames, amongst other things. However, for three days at a time, one of these minigames is spotlighted, and the rate of Thaler gain is QUINTUPLED, making the Thaler rate 1 Thaler for every minute of gameplay. Therefore, it is highly recommended to only play a game while it is spotlighted, as the Thaler rate is much better while it is spotlighted, and there will often not be players at a specific game if it is not spotlighted. A tracker for the spotlight that shows which game is spotlighted and which games will be spotlighted in order can be found here. FRIENDS CHATS: There are many friends chats that can be used to either make entering minigames easier or to speed up a particular game, or both. I'd highly recommend using a friends chat if you intend to grind for Thaler by yourself, as it makes the whole process much easier and simpler. Some of the more popular friends chats include: 'Minigames':This is a more general minigames friends chat, focused on following the currently spotlighted minigame, especially those that are afkable. This is by far the most popular and most active friends chat I've been in; there's almost always a game being run by this friends chat somewhere. RS Forum page 'Fast SC': This friends chat is dedicated specifically to running Stealing Creation games in order to get the volatile/proto tools and sacred clay armor for their bonus XP. This friends chat specifically runs non-combat games for the fastest games and points. RS Forum page I'll add more friends chats if I find any that are regularly used and pertain to the Minigame Spotlight. SPOTLIGHT STORE: Below is a list of all of the rewards available for purchase at the Minigame Spotlight store. Occasionally, Jagex will offer special rewards in the store for a limited time. As you probably know the Minigame Spotlight update hit RuneScape tomorrow and already tons of people are getting involved (world 53 is so very laggy!) but it's all in support of the minigames becoming repopulated, right? Minigames are small games in which a player (or players) set out to complete a certain objective. These games sometimes allow players to gain experience and items. They are identified with a red star icon on the map. Minigames can be repeated, unlike quests or miniquests which can only be completed once. In the Mage Arena minigame, Kolodion cannot be refought after defeating his fourth form. While you play minigames during the spotlight, you will receive additional thaler that you would not normally receive if you play off the spotlight. Thanks to Chippy, the image below shows you how much time you will save by playing Castle Wars games during the spotlight.
